Microsoft opens POP3 and SMTP Hotmail / Live

January 9, 2009 105 comments

It is a story passed quite unnoticed ... appears here and there in some forums a few users who have tried and tested the thing: Microsoft finally opened POP3 and SMTP mail service Hotmail / Live.

Most likely the advent of gMail and many other services with POP3 first, and then IMAP, open access their mail through a common email client, did reflect the Redmond company.

What happens at this point? Just happens that if the situation were to remain so, do not make it necessary programs such as FreePOPs, MacFreePOPs and other services that allow circumvent the problem of "POP3 server closed."

We are all'operativo with the steps needed to configure our beloved Mac Mail to get mail Hotmail / Live ...

  • Password: yourpassword

To simplify things even carry screenshot examples ...

I hope this tip will be useful to someone!

FreePOPs 0.2.9

January 7, 2009 30 comments

Just before Christmas the team FreePOPs has not stopped working and has "given" a new version of FreePOPs now at 0.2.9 of the useful program that lets you download your mail on your mail client (Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook) and -mail also services that do not allow you to use your own POP3 server unless you use their internet.

Examples are ecclatanti Free, Hotmail, Alice, Inwind, Virgil and many other mail services ... in my opinion, of dubious quality (especially the junk mail that is not filtered properly), especially when compared with services like gMail or AOL .

This version has made significant improvements "under the hood" just looking in the direction of Leopard, our beloved system of Apple.

From here you can visit the official website of the project FreeePOPs .

From here , however, you can access the complete guide for setting up mail on Mac with FreePOPs (and using FMU ).

WordPress 2.6.5!

November 26, 2008 No comments

Almost every regular WordPress team has released another major update to the platform's most popular bloggers, or at least to me.

We are therefore in WordPress 2.6.5 !

As the authors wrote was skipped version 2.6.4 because the version "fake" being turned into compromettavano network security bloggers. I quote verbatim text:

The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith That Affects fortunately only IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. If you are interested only in the security fix, copy wp-includes / feed.php and wp-includes / version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.

2.6.5 contains three other small fixes in Additions to the XSS fix. The first Prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision. The second Prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types. The third adds some user ID sanitization During bulk delete requests. For a list of changed files, consult the full changeset between 2.6.3 and 2.6.5.

Note That we are skipping version 2.6.4 and jumping from 2.6.3 to 2.6.5 to avoid confusion with a fake 2.6.4 release That made the rounds. There is not and never will be at version 2.6.4.

I have already upgraded with no problems, and no hitch with no plugins (in my case)!

How about you? What are you waiting?
Good update at all!

Pwned! (2.0)

July 20, 2008 No comments

Yes yes yes guys ... Pwned Tool 2.0 was released just last night as promised by the Dev-Team .

And now you can also unlock the 2.0 firmware for the iPhone 2G and 3G in a few clicks! In fact Pwned Tool allows you to create a firmware "customized" (custom) to be loaded via iTunes restore very easily, without losing custom settings you had before the "transition".

Here is the proof of simplicity ...

Back in the SSH on the iPhone and all the possibilities before!

And finally Cydia Installer instead of the sad Installer Nullriver that was far too slow. Let's hope it stays this way ...

The only drawback ... too few applications available for now, but everything seems to be faster and the AppStore, even if for a fee, offers good applications smileys

Thanks Dev Team!
