Microsoft opens POP3 and SMTP Hotmail / Live

January 9, 2009 105 comments

This news passed rather quietly ... it appears here and there in some forums few users who had tried and tested the fact: Microsoft finally opened POP3 and SMTP mail service Hotmail / Live.

Most likely the advent of gMail and many other services with POP3 first, and then IMAP, open access your mail through a common email client, did reflect the Redmond company.

What happens at this point? Just it happens that if the situation were to remain so, will become more necessary as programs FreePOPs, MacFreePOPs and other services that allow to circumvent the problem of "POP3 server closed".

We all'operativo with the steps necessary to configure our beloved Mac Mail to download the Hotmail / Live ...

Parameters POP3 (Inbox):
Account Information

  • Description: Hotmail
  • Email address: tuonome@hotmail.com (or .com)
  • Full Name: Name Surname
  • Incoming server: pop3.live.com
  • Username: tuonome@hotmail.com (or .com)
  • Password: yourpassword

Advanced

  • Port: 995
  • SSL: active
  • Authentication: Password

Parameters SMTP (outgoing mail):
Account Information:

  • Description: Hotmail
  • Server: smtp.live.com

Advanced

  • Use default port: 25
  • SSL: active
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: tuonome@hotmail.com (or .com)
  • Password: yourpassword

To simplify things even carry screenshots examples ...

I hope this tip will be useful to someone!

FreePOPs 0.2.9

January 7, 2009 30 comments

Just before Christmas the team FreePOPs not stopped working and has "donated" a new version of FreePOPs come to 0.2.9 of the useful program that lets you download your mail to your email client (Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook) and -mail also services that do not allow you to use your POP3 server unless you use their internet.

Examples ecclatanti are Libero, Hotmail, Alice, Inwind, Virgilio and many other email services ... I think of dubious quality (especially junk mail that is not filtered properly), especially when compared with services like gMail or AOL .

This version has introduced significant improvements "under the hood" just looking in the direction of Leopard, our beloved system of Apple.

From here you can visit the official website of the project FreeePOPs .

From here , however, you can access the complete guide to the configuration of the post in the Mac environment with FreePOPs (and the use of FMU ).

WordPress 2.6.5!

November 26, 2008 No comments

With almost every regular team of WordPress has released another major update of the platform's most popular bloggers, or at least from me.

We are therefore in WordPress 2.6.5 !

As the authors themselves wrote was skipped version 2.6.4 because of versions "fake" being turned into network compromettavano security blogger. Reported verbatim text:

The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith That fortunately only affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. If you are interested only in the security fix, copy wp-includes / feed.php and wp-includes / version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.

2.6.5 contains three other small fixes in Additions to the XSS fix. The first Prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision. The second Prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types. The third adds some user ID sanitization During bulk delete requests. For a list of changed files, consult the full changeset between 2.6.3 and 2.6.5.

Notes That we are skipping and jumping from version 2.6.4 to 2.6.3 2.6.5 to avoid confusion with a fake release 2.6.4 That made the rounds. There is not and never will be at version 2.6.4.

I have already upgraded without problems, and no hitch with no plugin (in my case)!

And you? What aspects?
Good update to all!

Pwned! (2.0)

20 July 2008 No Comment

Yes yes yes boys ... Pwned Tool 2.0 was released just this night as promised by the Dev-Team .

And now you can also unlock the 2.0 firmware for iPhone 2G and 3G in a few clicks! In reality, Pwned Tool allows you to create a firmware "customized" (custom) to be loaded by the restore iTunes very easily, as the custom settings you had before the "transition".

Here's proof of simplicity ...

Back in the SSH on the iPhone and with all the possibilities of the first!

And finally Cydia Installer instead of that sad Installer Nullriver that it was far too slow. We hope you remain in this direction ...

The only drawback ... too few applications available for now, but everything seems to be faster and the AppStore, although a fee, offers good applications smileys

With Dev-Team!
