Good update to all and always remember to make a nice healthy backup of the database before proceeding with this type of operation! Forewarned ...

WordPress 2.6.5!

November 26, 2008 No comments

Almost every regular WordPress team has released another major update to the platform's most popular bloggers, or at least to me.

We are therefore in WordPress 2.6.5 !

As the authors wrote was skipped version 2.6.4 because the version "fake" being turned into compromettavano network security bloggers. I quote verbatim text:

The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith That Affects fortunately only IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. If you are interested only in the security fix, copy wp-includes / feed.php and wp-includes / version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.

2.6.5 contains three other small fixes in Additions to the XSS fix. The first Prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision. The second Prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types. The third adds some user ID sanitization During bulk delete requests. For a list of changed files, consult the full changeset between 2.6.3 and 2.6.5.

Note That we are skipping version 2.6.4 and jumping from 2.6.3 to 2.6.5 to avoid confusion with a fake 2.6.4 release That made the rounds. There is not and never will be at version 2.6.4.

I have already upgraded with no problems, and no hitch with no plugins (in my case)!

How about you? What are you waiting?
Good update at all!

July 15, 2008 6 comments

And after more than a month of development, the team of WordPress has released another major update to the platform's most popular bloggers, or at least to me.

We are therefore in WordPress 2.6 !

There are many new features:

  • review system of post
  • support for gears;
  • preview of the themes;
  • Posted via Bookmarlet;
  • correction of 194 bugs;
  • more ...

I refer you to the website of the good old (not so eh) David for a detailed explanation of the changes introduced (with a screen).

I have already updated without problems, only a plugin that makes the tantrums, but other than that no hitch!

How about you? What are you waiting?
